Our
2006-2007 Rotarian of the Year Award went to Lisa
Clary for her efforts to always insure that "the word
gets out" about what Rotary is doing in our
community. We have also been in the Rotarian Magazine

One of
Rotary's most prestigious awards is our "Service Above
Self Award". This years winner is Frank Malone, his
only difficulty was finding "a few words to say" about
receiving the award. Congrats to Frank, he deserves

A
"President's Special Award" went to Dave Yocum for his
tireless efforts with our Service Trailer and
equipment. Dave's diligence allowed the club to raise
more than $4,000 that is used to support efforts

Charlottesville as guest speaker. Beadle is the
Catastrophic Coordinator for the Mid Atlantic Zone for
State Farm Insurance. He spoke to the group about his
work and the effects a catastrophic event can have on

Club held their annual "Adopt a Highway"

The Club welcomed Bill Glass
with Haiti Outreach Ministries as guest speaker. The
ministry is designed to share the Gospel with the
people of Haiti through worship, education, medical
clinics and student nutrition and vocational
education. The program also works with "Stop Hunger
Now" that Rotarian Lee Warren is involved in on the
local and state level to help see that children get
a nutritional meal during the school day in Haiti.

Doug Hinman is the "Service above Self Award"

wife Jackie operate The Shepard’s Inn and The
Shepard’s Shop in South Hill. It is a Christian
entity that operates on donations and sales from the

Club President Herbert Farrar of Farrar Auction and
Realty sets flags around South Hill for the Fourth of
July. Mr. Farrar and his company have been doing this
for over 12 years as a community service and a way to
make the town welcoming to visitors and travelers for
